7 Foods That Are Good For Your Skin

January 22, 2020

The foods you eat play a huge role in the health of your skin. Loaded with lots of good-for you minerals, these seven foods will give your skin a healthy, youthful glow.

TomatoesTomatoes are full of Lycopene – a phytochemical that’s full of health benefits and provides red pigments. Lycopene protects against skin damage by eliminating skin-aging free radicals caused by UV lights.

Mangoes, papaya, and apricots. Mangoes, papaya, and apricots contain pigments called carotenoids. Carotenoids are stored in the layer of fat directly beneath skin and help improve your skin’s color by giving you a rosy glow.

Cocoa powder. Cocoa hydrates your skin, making it firmer and more supple. Flavonols, the antioxidants in dark chocolate,  reduces roughness in the skin and protects against sun damage.

Flaxseeds. Think of flaxseeds as tiny wrinkle fighters. They contain omega-3 fatty acids, which erase spots and smooth fine lines. Fatty acids attract water to skin cells – plumping the skin and reducing wrinkles.

Sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes are full of vitamin C.  Vitamin C smooths wrinkles by stimulating the production of collagen.

Canned tuna. Canned tuna is packed with selenium—a nutrient that preserves elastin, which keeps your skin smooth and firm. Selenium also protects your skin against sun damage by prevents free radicals that are produced by UV rays from damaging skin cells.

Safflower Oil. Safflower oil acts as moisturizer and is a great solution for dry, flaky, or itchy skin. It contains omega-6 fatty acids, which keep cell walls supple, allowing water to reach your skin.
